Let sleeping bassets lie
Took this picture when I was clearing out the whelping box this morning. The thing about basset hounds is that no matter how old they get, they’re incredible sensual dogs. They always like to snuggle up. Yes, they form a heap as pups but the other lot like to do this too. Funny.
We’re fast approaching the two-week stage so it’s de-worming tomorrow. Aggie is fast asleep as I write, surrounded by the pups snoozing away their breakfast (or mid-morning snack).
It’s a dog’s life.

adorable! preston, as well as my parents’ bassets, all love to snuggle, too… which i’m thankful for because a basset-snuggle is great on a stressful day
I remember once going to a show and seeing 8 or 9 fully grown bassets all snuggled up, waiting to go into the ring. It was amazing: so laid back despite the tension in the air.
The Tao according a Basset. I am sure there’s a book in there somewhere.
How humans could learn from Basset hounds; snggles are always important.
Hi Tony,
Absolutely! Just ask Aggie. 30 kilos of basset on your lap will tell you that.
